Drum brake as a reliable companion

Unjustly underestimated

Drum brakes are used as service and parking brakes in various types of commercial vehicles. Drum brakes consist of the following components: Diaphragm or spring brake cylinders, slack adjusters for automatic adjustment, brake shoes.

Disc or drum brake?

Closed design: The drum brake is robust against dirt, moisture and other environmental influences. It also has good braking characteristics. This increases their service life, which of course also speaks for the durability of our spare parts.

Seasonal use: Disc brakes glaze over during long downtimes. Drum brakes, on the other hand, are resistant to this effect, making them the ideal choice for all operators who do not drive their trucks, trailers and commercial vehicles regularly.

Both friction brake systems differ in their design and therefore have certain strengths. Disc brakes impress with their reliability and efficiency. The heat supply from these brakes is much better compared to drum brakes. As a result, brake fade occurs less frequently. Drum brakes, on the other hand, are characterised by their robustness in the event of heavy soiling or weather influences and low maintenance.

Our experts will be happy to clarify with you in a consultation whether a drum brake is suitable for your requirements.

When do drum brakes need to be replaced?

Replacement parts or new drum brakes have to be installed regularly as part of routine maintenance in commercial vehicles, trucks and trailers. Symptoms of defective drum brakes can include jerking and vibrating brake pedals, squealing, pedals that are too soft and tilting of the truck when braking.
